For those of you that haven’t paid attention to the media circus that was Apple’s product announcement today here’s the summary:
1) New version of iTunes (version 7). In the US, you get full movie downloads, with international movies hopefully coming early in the new year. (Ya right, still waiting for TV downloads in Canada). The new interface is actually very slick and a much improvment (atleast on Windows) over the last one. One thing I did notice though: 100MB of Memory used. Download here. Oh, and one more thing: for fifth generation iPods, we now have much better games to play on them, but they’ll cost you money ($55 for the set of 9). I’m just waiting for someone to download them, hack them, and make them freely available.
2) New iPods: We get the 5.5 Generation video iPods (now in 39 and 80GB capacities with brighter screens and longer batteries, for a lower price), new iPod nano’s that feature the same aluminum colours that the old Mini’s had, and a new iPod Shuffle that looks more like a matchbook.
3) Project iTV: a MacMini like set top box which is suppose to allow the supposed wireless streaming of media files from your computers to your TV (very useful with Movie downloads). Not shipping yet, just the project was announced, which is admitely unusual for Apple (to annouce products before they’re released.
